From Banjul

If you are flying to Banjul, we can come and pick you up and in 3 hours you will arrive in Abene. The approximate cost for an exclusive car hire is 45,000cfa*. If you would rather travel by bush taxi, you need to take a car to Brikama, then another car to Selety, where you may find a direct car to Abene or change again once or twice. Although it is cheaper, it might take you hours to reach Abene on damaged roads. If you feel you are a traveller and you are used to tough conditions, then you might want to give it a try.

From Dakar

BY BOAT

We highly recommend the new boat travelling from Dakar to Ziguinchor. It is a comfortable and relatively cheap way to reach the very special region of Casamance. The "Aline Sitoe Diatta" is clean, well organised and offers a pleasant journey by night. It is climatised, provides hospitality from a snack bar and restaurant to film/music entertainment. Above all it is a nice opportunity to meet with both European and Senegalese fellow travellers in a relaxed atmosphere.
Dakar-Ziguinchor: Departure Tuesdays and Fridays - check-in between 2.30pm and 5.30pm.
Ziguinchor-Dakar: Departure Thursdays and Sundays - check-in between 11.30am and 1pm.
Rates: Twin bed cabin: 30,500* fcfa, Four bed cabin: 28,500* fcfa, eight bed cabin: 18,500* fcfa, armchair: 15,500* fcfa.

BY COACH

DAKAR-KAFOUNTINE (8km from Abene) - Departure from Dakar: Mondays and Fridays at 10pm. Departure from Kafountine on Sundays and Thursdays at 6am. Price: 7500fcfa one way. For further information: +221 77 558 2342 / 77 552 9659 / 77 143 0754.

BY CAR

Take a taxi to the "garage" where you can buy a ticket for a 7-seat car. The rate is approx. 10,000* fcfa but we need to let you know that the trip is long and difficult on roads that are often damaged, not considering the heat of course! Count between 12 and 15 hours drive to reach Abene.
