Lange habe ich geglaubt, ein solches Buch gäbe es aktuell noch nicht und war sehr erleichtert, als ich dann dieses hier gefunden habe. I hope above all that this book helps to nurture conversations about how men can be healthy, loving, vulnerable enough to receive love. You see, with the easy access to the internet these days, children and teens are stumbling upon pictures of genitals online. The conventional wisdom is that men don’t like to talk about things, and that they are suffering and even dying because they don’t talk about this part of their body.

I’m stealing a challenge from my friend, Dave Fuehrer: “If I can ask you to take one action, it is to admit to something that scares you. It occurred to me as I read just how rare it is for non-erect penises to be subjected to the gaze of thousands of women and men. These themes mainly revolved around the differences between “traditional manhood” and “transformational manhood” – not terms used in the book, but I like alliteration so that’s what we’re going with.

Laura and the creation of 'Womanhood' were the subject of a documentary for Channel 4, '100 Vaginas', which received 5 star reviews and has been broadcast around the world. I think this really aligns with what “traditional manhood” is all about – keeping deep thoughts and feeling to yourself.

Today, I want to talk about a book that can really help parents have those important conversations about genitals with their kids. Transformational manhood” is in a step in the right direction, but we should continue moving closer to just “humanhood. If women are going to stand there and expose themselves in that open way, then to be one of the men who is willing to do that is a really positive thing.

These selected quotes (in italics and used with permission of publisher) were moments that made me think about my own experiences growing up as a boy, adolescent, and man and how we can shape the future of our sex. The nature of this book is similar to the 'People of new York' stories with an emphasis on mens' opinions/insecurities with their bodies and how that has changed over time. What’s really cool is that the book includes interviews with the individuals, where they talk about their own bodies. Als Sexualcoach erlebe ich viel und direkt, dass Männer mit ihrem Genital unsicher oder unzufrieden sind. The Bare Reality series has been featured and reviewed in The Guardian, The Telegraph, The Times, The Sunday Times, The Daily Mail, The Sun, The Mirror, The Independent, The Evening Standard, Metro, i paper, Glamour, Cosmopolitan, Marie Claire, Grazia, Stylist, DIVA, Gay Times, Huff Post, BBC World, ITV’s Loose Women, BBC Womans Hour, BBC Radio London, BBC London News, Channel 5 News, Radio 5 Live, Talk Radio, LBC, and many international newspapers, magazines, radio and television programmes.
