Only if you’re looking specifically for a firm pillow would I say that the Otty Deluxe Pure (for all the comfort it offers) might not be a good choice. In this instance, you’re better off opting for something such as the Eve memory foam pillow. It’s a little bit firmer than the Otty Deluxe, but it’s not so firm that it feels clinical, instead landing somewhere in the middle of the spectrum. It comes with an inbuilt protector, plus a soft, breathable and hypoallergenic bamboo cover (which can be washed at 40°C), which helps you to keep things fresher than washing your pillowcase alone .

If you're allergic to dust mites, getting an anti-allergy pillow that can be washed often is the best way to prevent dust mites from settling into your pillow. When buying a pillow, make sure it can be easily cleaned, or is machine washable – ideally at 60°C or higher as dust mites can be killed and their allergens removed at high washing and drying temperatures. I asked a few friends of varying heights to sleep on the mattress and tell me what they thought. 6ft Daniel, who is used to sleeping on his front, found the mattress a little too firm for his liking, although after a while he managed to find a ‘very comfortable sleeping position’ that he thought was a step up from the memory foam mattress he had already been sleeping on. This is not one of the coolest foam pillows we've tested so far. Granted, memory foam tends to sleep hot, but considering OTTY claims this one does a good job at dissipating heat – we have to hold it against them. The ratio of feather to down can vary greatly, although as a rule if it is sold as a ‘feather’ pillow, it must be made of at least 30% of the exterior feathers of the bird. Down pillows must be at least 70% down.Just like Nectar’s A Whole Night Sleep pillow, the loft (or height) of the Emma Premium Microfibre Pillow can be adjusted by adding or removing one of its layers. The difference with Emma’s pillow is that it’s made from microfibre rather than memory foam. We found it much more “squishy” than most of its foam counterparts, so we’d argue it’s best suited to sleepers who prefer a softer pillow. Wash your bedding regularly: washing your sheets, pillowcases, and bedding protectors at 60°C or more can kill any dust mites. Be sure to follow the care label to avoid damaging your sheets. Key features – Filling: Goose down and feathers; Cover: 100% cotton cover (machine washable) Sizes: Standard size and king size

The only significant caveat is that to keep the pillow feeling its best, you’ll need to plump it up daily – something that’s not necessary with the foam pillows in this list. To test the edge support further, I used an 8kg weight to measure the sinkage on the sides of bed, which came at around 1.5inches. This seems average for a hybrid bed like this and in keeping with the sinkage measurements in the middle of the bed as previously mentioned. All jokes aside, this one truthfully strikes gold in terms of support as far as mid-range foam pillows go. There isn't much we'd do differently even if we were to design a pillow for optimal support. Is OTTY Deluxe pillow eco-friendly or sustainable? When buying a pillow, you can tell the difference between hypoallergenic and anti-allergy pillows by looking to see if the pillow has been treated with a biocide to ward off bacteria and dust mites. Finally, the most important thing to consider when getting any pillow is comfort. Getting a pillow specifically made for your sleeping type will help ensure you're comfortable throughout the night while you sleep. Should I get an anti-allergy or hypoallergenic pillow?

To find out just how comfortable the Otty mattress is, there was only one way to test it – by lying on it. The mattress is on the firmer side, with a rating of 7 out of 10, making it the firmest mattress Otty sells. An adequate basic option if you’re shopping on a budget and want to be able to clean your pillows at home. While there's a lot of conflicting evidence surrounding how allergens make their way into our bedding and how to prevent them, the NHS advises visiting a doctor if you feel you may have an allergy.

The outer cover is made from 60% Polyester, 40% Viscose, with the inner casing made from 100% Polyester.

OTTY Pillow Trial & Warranty

The OTTY Deluxe Pure comes with charcoal and bamboo-infused memory foam core. This pillow eliminates odours, improves breathability and regulates temperature to a degree. Pure feather pillows – as luxurious as the idea of pure feathers may sound, we’d avoid this type as those pesky feather quills seem to have a way of escaping and stabbing you in the face. It’s also worth noting they don’t offer the support and height needed for side sleepers. Plus, they can be noisy and don’t suit allergy sufferers. Anti-allergy pillows will be labelled specifically as anti-allergy or anti-bacterial, and will contain a chemical like Lurol AM-7 or dimethyloctadecyl[3-(trimethoxysilyl)propyl]ammonium chloride (yes, that is the real name!). What are hypoallergenic and anti-allergy pillows usually made of?
